Rules
District 22 strives to provide fairness and equality before, during and after all shows. Shows will be abided by the rules established by the NBHA, a few will be amended in the District 22 bylaws. It is the member’s responsibility to be familiar with all Nationals and District rules. Our District Director has the right to add any bylaws as needed. It is up to the member to read their newsletter for changes and updates. Each member is responsible to provide their NBHA card and current Coggins at shows, if asked. Every arena will require current coggins for Texas Animal Health Commission for viewing.

NBHA TX 22 BYLAWS

- All Dist. 22 shows will abide by the NBHA national and District 22 rules. Each member will be provided with a copy of these rules when joining. Each member is responsible for being familiar with these rules.
- Each member should be able to provide proof of a negative coggins test for each horse they bring to the shows. The Texas Animal Commission may hold inspections randomly at any of our shows.
- An NBHA Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release of Liability, and Indemnification Agreement must be signed by all members and non-members prior to participating in any NBHA sanctioned show or sponsored event.
- Competitors must complete all entry forms in full and provide a signature; minors' entries MUST be signed by parent/guardian.
- Our main source of club news and communication will be in a newsletter that can be picked up at each show. Also, newsletter, points, shows, etc are available at our web site: texasnbha22.com
- WORK POINTS REQUIRED!!!
Each member wishing to qualify for year-end awards will be required to obtain 15 work points.
* Work points will be award 1 point for every 30 minutes of work. Work points may be earned by setting barrels, working gate or alleyway, dragging arena, setting up, working in the office, clean up after show, securing saddle sponsorships, recruiting new members, etc,... This list is not all inclusive, other ways to earn points may arise during the competition year. Prior approval by District Director must be obtained for any form of earning work points not listed.
*1 Work Point will be given for every $25 sponsor
*1 Work Point for every $50 spent with a TX 22 Sponsor
- Members must compete in 6 of the 10 shows to qualify for year end awards
- Shows will be run as follows: Barrel Exhibitions, Open 4-D Barrels, Youth 4-D Barrels, Senior 4-D Barrels
- Books will remain open until the last 25 riders in the Open. Youth must be entered before the first horse runs in your class.
- In the interest of time a contestant will be called to run 3 times, if contestant is not attempting to enter the arena the contestant will receive a no time.
- Member must keep their NBHA membership current. Should a membership lapse for more than 30 days members will forfeit all work points for the current year.
- In the event the timer malfunctions during a run the contestant will be given a rerun at the end of the class - NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED.
- NBHA TX 22 will impose a $30.00 returned check fee, along with any applied bank charge related to the returned check. No member or non-member will be allowed to compete in future shows until this fee is paid. If NBHA TX 22 is unable to collect on any returned check within 30 days, the writer of said check will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
- Bad Weather: It is your responsibility to contact an advisory board member or director to see if a show has been cancelled due to bad weather. Rescheduling of that show is at the discretion of the director.
- Designate or Carry over times are allowed. This must be done when the contestant enters the open. The open time will carry over to the youth or senior division, whichever you specify. You cannot designate your time after you’ve made your run.
- Ties: In the event of a tie for end of year awards position the following rules will be used to break the tie:
A. The rider with the most 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. until the tie is broken.
Sponsors:
- All members must pay or bring in a sponsor of twenty-five dollars or more by our July show. If the sponsorship is not paid by the due date, that member will NOT qualify for year end awards and will not be titled as winner of the district, even if they are considered by Nationals as a certain winner. Any titles will go to the member who has met all of the requirements from Texas 22 Bylaws. All sponsorship money will go toward added money shows and year end awards. You may request additional sponsorship money go to Open, Youth, or Senior class.
